The Lego Universe has expanded a lot since it started in 1932 with wooden blocks. Now it has probably (and I am just guessing) over 100,000 sets ever made. It has expanded so much that the products include: Video Games, Trading cards, Online games, movies, Amusement parks and more. Lego has made products based on Movies, TV and Video games.
Since 1949-2011 Lego has probably the most popular toy in America. Lego has teamed up with Star Wars, Harry Potter, Spongebob and much more. Newer sets include Technic and Mindstorms. Technic is basically advanced and special big and little pieces that can move when you push or pull. Mindstorms, on the other hand are even more advanced than that. They can move around when programmed. That is why they are expensive.
Lego Universe has changed since 1949 when Minifigs had yellow, blank heads, 1 hat, unmovable arms and body piece and a Lego brick for feet. Lego has become a great thing to collect. The biggest Lego set is the Ultimate Collectors edition Millennium Falcon($500) with 5000+ bricks. This set is bigger than the Death Star (4000+) and the Death Star 2(3000+). Lego probably had to design a lot more pieces.
One of Lego’s competitors is Mega Bloks, which made all the brands Lego did not make. Mega Bloks fall apart easily. Lego is sold at just about any toy store. Even if they don’t sell the sets they probably sell the watches or clothing. Lego is popular online too, being sold on Toywiz, Firestar Toys, and a lot more. At Target, Lego usually has a whole aisle to itself.
Lego has almost everything. Heck, they even have lunchboxes!.
The best thing ever built with Lego’s was probably a Lego house that was 2-story. In New York at Toys R Us (4-story) I, along with my brother and sister were amazed at the LEGO Empire state building that was maybe say, 5 feet tall. It had so much detail, it must have taken at least a month to build.
Lego is a whole great world for kids to enjoy. And often important in their life.
