The end of my school term and some book reviews

Today my dad and I went to a coffee shop here in Long Beach on the peninsula and I worked for a while. When I came home I worked hard and finished my school term and finished the remaining books for the term.

Here is a list and short summary of each of the books I have finished (not in my life, that would take about 10 posts filled to the maximum word count(is that possible?), but a list of some school books I have finished)

1: Never Give In: Winston Churchill
My rating: 9.95/10

This book was very well written and overall a great book. This book is about Winston Churchill, the great leader. The author describes Churchill as funny, loving, smart, a great politician, and very witty (does that remind you remind you of someone? Wait, I’m… I mean the person who you are reminded of is not a great politician… Yet). The book covers Churchill’s whole life, and then some.
Churchill had a great sense of humor and the author has a variety of great quotes either by Churchill or by various great men (but he forgot to mention me) and puts quotes at the beginning of chapters from great people. I think that’s about it for this book, I would recommend it to anyone who likes biographies, humor, free copy work sentences and books.

2: Albert Einstein and the Theory of Relativity
My rating: 8/10
The author of this book does a great job of explaining Einstein’s formula’s and ideas in a way that young people would understand. It explains his theories and how he came up with them, along with a narration of his life. He considered his work play and enjoyed what he was doing (I just basically said the same thing twice just to make the sentence longer). He was horrified that his fellow colleagues wanted to help make bombs and various other weapons of mass destruction and renounced his German citizenship when Hitler came to power. Even as he was laying on his deathbed dying, he continued to work on his physics until the end.

3: The Story of the Von Trapp Family Singers

My rating: 9/10

This book is about what really happened in one of the most famous musical of all time, The Sound of Music. It tells the tale of Maria Augusta Von Trapp, her husband, numerous children and their escape to the United States of America. The story starts off with Maria being sent from the Catholic Abbey to be a tutor for one of the Trapp children. Eventually, Maria and Georg fall in love and marry. They flee to America from Austria when Hitler comes to power and, when the press realizes that they have real singing talent, they put on musical shows all over the world. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good autobiography and true WWII stories.

4: Age of Fable

My rating: 8.5/10

I have always loved Greek Mythology, which probably started around the time that I read books by Rick Riordan, the Percy Jackson series, the Kane Chronicles, and the Heroes of Olympus. This book is about a lot of Greek and Roman myths, not following one storyline, but having different stories inside a chapter. I didn’t finish this book, but got to the point where I was supposed to finish, and overall, I would say this is a great book for someone who likes Mythology, short tiny stories to read as much or as little as you want, stories about heroes, and death (there are some very weird stories that end with ‘and then they died, The End’).
