Trip post #33: A lot of boarding, our first back country ride and double blacks

Location: On the road to Aspen

Geocaches: 236

I’m 1/3 of the way to post #100! (Which probably won’t happen cause our trip will probably be over before I get to 100. Or will we do another trip…. This could be foreshadowing….)

We’ve been boarding a lot. 8 days in a row for me! My friend, Sage came up, and we boarded with him at Arapahoe Basin.

Isaac and I did our first back country run (somewhere where it’s not regulated and no people). We climbed up really high and boarded down and dad and mom took the car down the highway to pick us up. After we were done, we saw a helicopter, ambulances and other various rescue vehicles, and we think that someone had gotten hurt on the other side of where we went.

We’re doing great at snowboarding, I’ve done 26 black diamonds, Isaac’s done 23 or 24 and Jadyn’s done 21. We met some friends at Arapahoe Basin, named Ziggy and Auggie. We raced them down the mountain, and I won once.

Today we took off from our hotel and are currently driving to Aspen, where we’re going boarding again. We went to 2 resorts today on our way, and did our first and second Double Black Diamond runs at Loveland. Copper Mtn was amazing! We got there at 3:15, so we only got in 5 runs. We hope to go back again sometime this week.

The snowboarding resorts we’ve been to so far in Colorado are:

  • Durango Mountain (Purgatory)
  • Wolf Creek
  • Telluride
  • Crested Butte
  • Monarch Mountain
  • Arapahoe Basin
  • Loveland
  • Copper Mountain

I also am going to make a video in iMovie with the footage I took at Arapahoe. I’ll try and upload that soon.
