And, here I am back with another school narration of Galileo. Chapter 10 of this book that I narrate is now read-able!
Galileo takes his telescope to the pope, who politely disagree’s with Galileo that the Earth isn’t the center of the universe, that is, until he looks through the telescope and sees Jupiter’s moons himself! The Grand Duchess disagrees with him, and he writes her a letter, saying politely and carefully that there are the scientists and there are the holy men. The men who wrote the bible were holy men, but not scientists. Galileo’s enemies use this as an opportunity to say that he is against the church, and in the end, get him to sign an agreement saying that he will not teach about what he’s been teaching, leaving a big cliffhanger…
